100-odd not-so-odd things I LOVE about myself

with 10 comments

I like this The Frisky post about 30 things you like about yourself so much that I spent my lunch hour yesterday thinking of the things I love about myself. I then sent my two BFFs the following sms: “OMG! I’m like, so much in EL OH VEE EE.”

I thought it’d be difficult to think of 30 things I like about myself but obviously it wasn’t that difficult. It helped to think of how I handle different situations. And I tried to see myself through someone else’s eyes.

I need to keep this list around for whenever I need some cheering up.

  1. Joy, great list. It says a lot of good things about a person who can compile a list like this. It makes me want to wish you a good day, or a good weekend, or just some additional happiness…

  3. All I can say, young Joy-Mari, is: ‘Jesus, how does one find the time, the inclination, the pluck, the imagination, the balls, the smarts, the where-with-all, the obsession, the introspection, the metaphorical mirror, the symbolic deep diving and the complete insanity to find 111 things to say about oneself. I would go mad, just mad, trying to find 10 things to say about myself that is worth it. But then, as you suggest, that probably says more about me than you…

  4. You really know yourself, this is a wonderful list.
I like no 2 on your list, it reflects on your blog.

  5. Rodney, I challenge you to think of 15 things you like about yourself ;)

MsAfropolitan, thank you. Life is so precious and fleeting. We really have to make the most of it.

  6. I took up the challenge. FIFTEEN, she said. I sat. I wiggled. I squirmed. I dug deep. I scratched furrows in my bald head. Blank. Blank. Blank. Then the bulb lit up like flashlight in the forest…. I came up with only ONE.
And it turned out to be a few words from an old Leonard Cohen tune:
“I’m good at love, I’m good at hate; It’s inbetween I freeze.”

  8. I admire the very way you love yourself in detail! 111… I’m jealous! After 8 days of hard thinking I just found only two things about myself to be truly glad with: 1. I’m so glad that I still live up until this minute. 2. I’m glad I’m 70 and it won’t take long – as I know – to get it all over with.

  9. Hey, Martin

    Thanks for the comment!
