Hey, Heben

Good to hear you appreciate my list ;) I guess some things are indeed universal, hey?

And yes, it's always great to read more blogs by people of colour.

its interesting to me that as an african american in the new york city, many of these are still really relevant

i really appreciated this list

#17 specifically, aptly sums up all of my k-12 years
#37 so true!!
@ 36, i think theres been a really beautiful flourishing of blogs by people of color (at least in the U.S.)

lol! at 33
i love girlfriends...sex and the city kinda sucks (at least in my opinion, theyre too rich to be relatable) and the jennifer husdon role in the sex and the city movie was incredibly problematic/played into stereotypical roles...but i get your point nonetheless

Hey, Jenni

It depends on whom you ask. There are some people who talk about 'so-called coloureds' and then there are people who are happy to use the word 'coloured'. Some Afrikaans speaking coloureds use the word 'kleurling'. I sometimes call myself a black woman but I also sometimes call myself coloured. Most coloured people would feel offended if you call them black. So I can understand how difficult it must be for you. The easiest would be to test the waters and to stick with what they want you to call them.

And no, no offense taken ;)
